How the citizenship test works
The USCIS figure: most people pass
According to USCIS, of applicants who took the English and civics tests since October 1, 2023, 89.7% passed on the first try and 94.4% including the re-exam. (USCIS counts exempt applicants and approved N-648s as passing.)

What the app does
- The officer asks out loud, in English, and you answer by speaking, just like the interview.
- Grandpa explains every answer and brings back what you forget, right on time.
- A mock interview with your own N-400 details (they stay on your phone), reading aloud and dictation.
- Your senators, representative and governor by state or ZIP code.

Frequently asked questions
Are you USCIS or the government?
No. We're an educational course. We use USCIS's official lists (the 128 from 2025, the 100 from 2008 and the reading and writing vocabulary) and cite the source on every page, but we're not the government and don't give legal advice.
How many questions will I get, and how many do I need?
N-400 filed on or after October 20, 2025: up to 20 of the 128, pass with 12. Filed before: up to 10 of the 100, pass with 6. You also read 1 of 3 sentences and write 1 of 3.
Can I take the test in Spanish?
Only if you qualify by age: 50/20, 55/15 or 65/20 (years as a resident when you filed). Then you skip the English test and take civics in your language with an interpreter you bring.
What happens if I fail?
You get a second appointment 60 to 90 days later, only for the part you failed. Fail it again and the N-400 is denied.
How much does the app cost?
You can start practicing without an account. If a plan ever costs money, we'll tell you clearly first.
We are not USCIS or any government agency. This is an educational course built on the official USCIS lists; it is not legal advice. For your case, talk to an immigration attorney or a Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representative.
